Tiblow Days celebrates Bonner Springs community

The 2024 edition of Tiblow Days brought together the community to celebrate the heritage and spirit of Bonner Springs with a flurry of activity — a parade, carnival, car show, 5k run, street fair, and concerts.

The day started cool, with cloud cover shading parade-goers from the hotter weather to come.

The parade started at Lions Park, turning south at Nettleton and continuing into downtown, where a bevy of vendors and small businesses awaited the crowds that strolled through.

Elm Grove Baptist Church won the judges’ votes, taking the Mayor’s Trophy for best entry in the parade with its take on the Inside Out theme.

At Kelly Murphy Park, Linda Graff, chief of the Delaware tribe in Kansas, led the crowd at the pavilion in a “bean dance,” a traditional Delaware dance of welcoming, which started in a slow saunter and ended in a whirl, as the younger dancers swept around the edges of the dance floor.
