Shooting suspect surrenders after standoff

Per a press release from the Kansas City, Kan. police department, one person was taken into custody after barricading himself for over two hours in a house near McGrew Grove and Quindaro Blvd.

Around 6:30 p.m. KCKPD’s Special Operations Unit was in the area serving a warrant in the Nov. 30 shooting death of Nicholas Brooks when they made contact with a man who then entered a residence and refused to exit, barricading himself inside.

At approximately 9:00 PM, negotiators convinced the suspect to exit the residence and he was taken into custody without further incident. Detectives with the Kansas City, Mo. police department also responded to the scene, since the man was a suspect in other violent crimes there.
