Mayor’s Christmas tree will light up downtown starting Friday

Kansas City, Kan. Mayor Tyrone Garner, along with the Unified Government and Downtown Shareholders, will host the annual mayor’s Christmas tree lighting ceremony this Friday, Nov. 15 in front of Memorial Hall in downtown KCK.

Music, along with food trucks and other vendors will start at 4:00 p.m. and the event will run through 8:00 p.m., highlighted by the actual tree lighting at 7:00 p.m. Kids can get their faces painted and take photos Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Longtime KCK resident and former KCTV 5 anchor Sandra Olivas-Talavera will emcee the event. The Salvation Army Brass Band, R&B singer LeVelle, and eclectic retro band Stranded in the City are among those scheduled to perform live.
