Mayor to host Friday session on immigration changes

Mayor Garner will hold a “listening session” Friday for community concerns about U.S. immigration policy.

Unified Government Mayor/CEO Tyrone Garner will host a public session on U.S. immigration policy on Friday at 3:30 PM at Memorial Hall. Pre-selected community members will speak on their concerns about recent changes in immigration enforcement and policy made by the incoming presidential administration of Donald Trump.

Members of community-based organizations, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Mexican Consulate office, businesses and others have been allotted five minute speaking sessions. The event announcement made clear that only selected speakers were allotted time.

Interpreters will be available for the event. Information about attending the event online can be found at this link.
