I-670 and Central Avenue closures start for bridge repairs

Starting today, lane and ramp closures begin for the Kansas Department of Transportation’s project to perform maintenance on the Central Avenue and I-670 bridges over the Kansas River and the Union Pacific yards.

The most critical of these is the on-ramp from Central Avenue to eastbound I-670, which will be closed until the project is finished, scheduled to be in late September. Other ramps and lanes will be closed as needed.

The maintenance work will include girder repairs, expansion joint replacements, and bridge deck patching.
