Tuesday afternoon at approximately 1:15 pm, a vehicle accident occurred on I-435 near Kansas Avenue in Edwardsville.

Edwardsville police, fire, and EMS responded to the accident and provided aid, but one driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Edwardsville police and the Kansas Highway Patrol are investigating the accident. The name of the deceased driver has not been released pending notification of the family.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area, which is already facing backups due to bridge construction.
