Candlelight vigil for fallen deputy will be Wednesday evening

The Unified Government and the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Department jointly announced a candlelight vigil on Wednesday evening at 8:30 p.m. in memory of Sheriff’s Deputy Elijah Ming, killed Saturday in the line of duty.

The vigil will take place in front of the Wyandotte County Courthouse, near the Sheriff’s Memorial at the northeast corner of 7th Street and Ann Ave.

The National Weather Service forecasts thunderstorms for Wednesday evening, and the event will take place in Memorial Hall in the event of inclement weather.
