Food trucks banned at 18th & Central after violations

The Unified Government has issued a temporary ban on food trucks near the 18th Street and Central Avenue intersection, citing multiple health and safety violations. The moratorium will take effect starting Dec. 27 and will extend 60 days unless modified.

The UG specifically cited issues with grease being discarded into the drainage system, which can block the flow of sewage, especially in colder weather. There were also concerns about unauthorized street closures and trash-burning in the area.

The UG specifically denied that a specific vendor was at issue, but said that previous outreach and education efforts failed to get the environmental issues fixed.

The ban extends from Grandview Blvd. south to Wilson Blvd. and from 17th Street west to 19th Street. The UG Environmental Services Department confirms that any sewer issues have been corrected.
