The Unified Government commissions will meet tonight for the regularly scheduled November meeting.
The agenda includes several proclamations, including First Baptist Day on Nov. 17th, celebrating the historic church founded at 5th and Nebraska in 1859, and Fire Station 11 Day on Nov. 23 as the old firehouse on State Avenue celebrates its 100th anniversary.
The commission will hear the 2023 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report from Shelley Kneuvean, the UG’s chief financial officer.
A preview of the presentation shows that UG expenses for governmental activities rose by approximately $43 million from 2022 to 2023, an 11.6 percent year-over-year increase, while total revenues increased only $15 million, or 4.4 percent. The commission voted earlier in the year to keep the 2024 budget flat versus 2023.
The commission will likely approve a performance agreement for the luxury apartment development at 46th and Rainbow, with construction to take place between 2026 and 2029, and extend the agreement for Criterion Partners apartment project in the Legends area, pushing the start of construction into 2026.
