Piper sophomore running back Roman Byers ran over and through Leavenworth defenders on his way to the end zone. Byers scored three rushing touchdowns in the Pirates’ 25-20 loss to the Pioneers.

In Friday night high school football, Harmon picked up its first conference win since 2015 and second win overall, beating Wyandotte on the road.

Piper made a spirited second-half comeback effort, but came up one score short against Leavenworth.
