A joint meeting of the Unified Government’s Planning and Zoning Committee and the full County Commission will take place on Thursday, Aug. 29, starting at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Office Building.
The big ticket item for the full Commission meeting is adoption of a resolution for issuing $27 million in bonds for the Marshalltown Company distribution facility planned for the 435 Logistics Center on Leavenworth Road. Marshalltown is an Iowa-based manufacturer of tools used in professional construction, and the Leavenworth Road facility will be a distribution center.
The Commission will also vote on pushing back the dates for the 505 Central apartment complex development agreement by two years, to start in September 2026 rather than 2024.
Both items were unanimously recommended for approval by the Economic Development and Finance Committee in its July meeting.
The Planning and Zoning Committee will consider zoning changes, including for an apartment development at 4225 Mission Road and a mini-golf entertainment center at 9400 State Avenue.
The committee will also consider special use permit requests, including an automotive repair business at 1101 Minnesota, live entertainment at The Shop Cigar Lounge at 407 North 6th Street, and three short-term rental locations.
